Hi, I'm working on writing the ARC case for getting MySQL 5.0 into OpenSolaris. MySQL will be a part of the webstack project at http://opensolaris.org/os/project/webstack/
We will try to be in-line with other databases (like PostgreSQL) as how they are installed and configured for running on OpenSolaris. Are there some common practices as where to put database config files? -Should there be a default config file, for "out-of-the-box" experience? Database devices and logfiles? Which client APIs is common to include? JDBC, ODBC, PHP ? Feedback on these questions appreciated. A draft for the ARC case will be posted on the webstack-discuss list. Regards, Jan S Berg
