For future reference if someone finds this thread.

One can actually fake uname() output by using dtrace so Oracle will start 
behave properly and 2GB+ files with Oracle 8.0.6.3 + Solaris 10 will work.
other option is to use S8 branded zone which will do this (among other things) 
for you.
