No, I explained myself badly. I have just installed the system, so I 
have a very big tree (organized in various directory levels). I would 
like to import all the photos (so that tag search etc. works). I 
normally import them folder by folder, and I am not sure if this is 
equivalent as choosing the top folder and import recursively. I hope the 
data from the .xmp files from my old darktable installation will be 
respected...

BTW, it's quite un-userfriendly that all the module presets from my 
other PC installation are gone with the database. In my opinion, they 
should be stored together with the styles, in a nice sharable set of 
text files... or have an option to export all of them and reload them. 
But well, it's also an excuse to make a bit of spring cleaning...
