I understand. I don't talk really about the embedded jpg. Let me explain
egain:

For the camera picture style, DT uses base curve to simulate something
like the "standard" style as a default (unless changed by the DT user).
It's convenient.

For WB, I just would like to understand the magic behind the default DT
one. When entering Darkroom the first time on a picture, I see "Camera
white balance" selected. But in fact it isn't, if it was it would be
close to the "embedded jpg" one.

I would like to have a default WB in darkroom that is not too far from
the reality.

And I found nothing about thise default "Camera white balance" in the DT
manual, just:

camera white balance (default)  White balance reported by the camera.
