PayPal is totally connected to true names. One can only transfer funds
from one entity marked by the number of the beast, to another entity marked
by the number of the beast.

e-gold is largely connected to true names. When the gold leaves the
system, it is linked to true names, and all transfers between one nym and
the next are recorded and logged forever and available to the state, thus
transferring funds between nyms ultimately reveals the connection between
the nym, and a true name marked by the number of the beast.

My understanding, however, is that with e-gold a nym in the US could make a
physical delivery of gold, transfer that gold to a nym in Switzerland, and
then a person in Switzerland could pick up the gold. The Swiss would know
the connection between one nym, and a true name, but would not necessarily
share that information with the US authorities.

On the other hand, e-gold might well freeze such a transfer as "suspicious".

There is nothing stopping someone, such as ZKS, from providing anonymous
transfers of e-gold -- or anonymous transfers of paypal money. However no
one has yet done so.
