Because, all other things being equal, this would stop posts from
nominal nonsubscribers. For example, anonymous or remailed or nymed
posts. Which we consider to be bad ideas.
Your ideas were obvious in 1992.
There are solutions, but yours are not them.
(P.S. Toad.com has not been a preferred list address since early
1997. Please conform to modern reality.)
