After someone found an intelligent way to fight napster,

The question: technology is neutral and does not give a shit,
we all know that. Is all this popularity of crypto, anonymity,
peer-to-peer networking actually *bad* for these technologies ?
Bad in the sense that becoming mainstream means becoming hijacked
by cults (a la FSF or Linux clans), and therefore cease to be a
tool for uncensored and/or private communications ?
