A theory: Jim Choate is attempting to fill a void left by Bill Arnold's
departure from the list. He sends hundreds of thousands of posts a day,
with a signal to noise ratio worthy of the alt.sex hierarchy.
But, as with Arnold, Choate does serve a useful purpose. On occasion his
posts are so absurd they're laughable.
An example from April 4:

There is an article on sciencedaily.com about how monkeys
pay each other for work. Is this an example of a free market,
please explain.
That one had me laughing for a week. Compare with something from Bill
Arnold on July 8 of last year:
Cryptographers/cryptanalysts/cypherpunks should note that the
'truth' of the matter is that Dickinson violates the 'letter
frequency' rules of plain-text English. Her skewed Gaussian curve
for the 'normal' usage of letters in accordance with basic
probability rules suggests that she clearly enciphered her
'messages/poems' with SAM B! ... It is 'most probable' that
Dickinson was the foremost 'cypherpunk' of the nineteenth century
and CRYPTOLOGIA should take note!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
