The first developer release of the 3.5 ROM images for the Palm VII
handheld are available for download in the Development Seeding Program
and in the Clickwrap Program of the Provider Pavilion on our web site
http://www.palm.com/devzone/pavilion.html. Use these pre-release images

  4. GSM World Congress

During the GSM World Congress (Week 5, 1st week of Feb. 2000) at Cannes,
Palm, Inc. with the collaboration of major mobile phone companies and
Strategic Alliances has demonstrated the potential of the Palm, Inc.
platform to access data wirelessly, using standard handset phones over
GSM networks.

In conjunction with leading companies such as Motorola, Alcatel and
Sagem, Palm, Inc. has been demonstrating on partners booths "wireless
connectivity" between handheld computers based on the Palm OS(R)
operating system and GSM cellular phones via cable or infrared
communication, and the display of Internet information, through Palm,
Inc's own Web Clipping technology (access on-line services such as ABC
News, Yahoo People Search, The Weather Channel, Travelocity, and E*Trade)
or through WAP. We also have the pleasure to demonstrate the same
services with the new Sagem GPRS mobile phone! Demonstrations were also
done with some key players in their area:

- AU System (Swedish company) with their WAP browser for the Palm.
- Option International (Belgium company) with their Snap On product
for the Palm (GSM adapter) in combination with an HTML browser.
- France Telecom has shown the Palm V with the GSM Modem V connected
to "Portal To Go" (Oracle solution) customized for France Telecom.
- IBM has shown Mobile Connect solution for the Palm.

In conclusion, this GSM worldwide event gave us the opportunity to show
the Palm, Inc. platform capabilities with Strategic Palm Alliances and
GSM/GPRS key leaders and players. It was the right place to show and
demonstrate to attendees (6,000+) the potential of our Palm OS devices
with Internet access content over a GSM network.

  6. POSE 3.0a4 Now Supports Visor(TM)!

The Handspring(TM) Developer Technical Team is happy to announce that the
new version of the POSE (Palm OS(R) Emulator) 3.0a4 now supports Visor!
You can choose between the 2- or 8-MB version and even a Graphite or Blue
skin. Note that we also discovered a small bug in the ROM Transfer
Application so we made a revision to it that is posted on our web site at
http://www.handspring.com/developers/tech_pose.asp.

Having support for Visor in POSE is a major step in making more tools
available to the developer community. The next step is to emulate the
8-MB Flash module so that you can test applications running from a
Springboard(TM) module.
