This email outlines important hardware and software information for each new product. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Palm IIIc (TM) Connected Organizer The Palm IIIc Connected Organizer includes: * ROM - 2 MB Flash * RAM - 8 MB * Processor - 20 MHz * Display - 8-bit color active matrix TFT display * Shape - Similar to the Palm IIIx (TM) device series, the length is 7mm longer with a slight difference in the physical shape of the bottom and a difference in the serial interface. * Similar serial interface to Palm IIIx, but a different driver * Battery - rechargeable (different from the Palm V (TM) ) the battery charge control circuity is in the organizer. * Cradle - it uses the same cradle shape as the Palm III (TM) and has a 2 wire connection (not the same as the Palm V) in the DB9 connector for a 5VDC power supply. A Palm IIIc will synchronize in a Palm III cradle, but not charge. A Palm III will synchronize in a Palm IIIc cradle and will not be effected by the power supply voltage. * Metal/plastic combination Stylus * No expansion slot * Languages - English, French, German, Italian * New Palm, Inc. (TM) logo * Palm OS (R) 3.5 Third party Palm OS applications that check screen depth before writing to the display should run and display properly on the Palm IIIc Connected Organizer. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The Palm IIIxe (TM) Connected Organizer The Palm IIIxe Connected Organizer includes: * Member of the Palm III device series * Same dimensions as the Palm III device series * ROM - 2 MB Flash * RAM - 8 MB * Display - Enhanced display -- same as the Palm IIIx devices * Plastic Stylus * No expansion slot * Languages - English only * Dark slate colored casing (darker gray) * Palm OS 3.5 The Palm OS 3.5 ROM image available in the Provider Pavilion is the same ROM image used on the Palm IIIxe. All third party applications and conduits that currently run on any Palm OS 3.5 device will run on the Palm IIIxe connected organizer. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ New versions of the Palm V (TM) and Palm Vx (TM) Connected Organizers The Palm V and Vx Connected Organizers include: * Member of the Palm V device series * Same dimensions as the Palm V device series * ROM - 2 MB Flash * Display - New enhanced display -- same as the currently shipping Palm V devices * Metal/plastic combination Stylus * No expansion slot * New internal board design. * Same serial interface, same rechargeable battery * Languages - English, French, German, Italian * New Palm, Inc. Logo * Palm OS 3.5 Palm V * RAM - 2 MB * Processor - 16 MHz Palm Vx * RAM - 8 MB * Processor - 20 MHz The 3.5 ROM image available in the provider pavilion is the same ROM image used on the Palm V and Palm Vx. All third party applications and conduits that currently run on any Palm OS 3.5 device will run on the Palm V and Palm Vx connected organizers. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ New localized versions of the Palm IIIe (TM) Connected Organizer and the Palm IIIe Special Edition Connected Organizer The Palm IIIe and IIIe Special Edition Connected Organizers include: * Member of the Palm III device series * Same dimensions as the Palm III device series * ROM - 2 MB Mask * RAM - 2 MB * Plastic Stylus * No expansion slot * Palm OS 3.3 Palm IIIe Special Edition * Languages - English, French and German Palm IIIe * Languages - English and Spanish The Palm IIIe Special Edition is identical to a Palm IIIe (tm) connected organizer, except that it will come with a clear housing and a clear flip lid, instead of the traditional gray. The Palm IIIe connected organizer is in the traditional gray. Please note that all third party applications and conduits that currently run on any Palm OS 3.3 device will run on the Palm IIIe connected organizer as long as the application doesn't try to write to flash memory.
