Im interested in getting comment from the cypherpunks list on what follows. Rumour has it that there is currently a law busy being built and formed, and again, I stress this is still rumour but I have fairly good sources who are holding by this, so Im inclined to believe it, that will basically bar the development of hacking code. This will stop all development of any security exploits etc etc, stuff that is integral in the implementation of security for purposes of testing and auditing security. In the USA, how would a law like this sit constitutionally, as it inhibits the ability for certain security companies to do business and to operate legally, when they are providing nessasary services. Im interested to see how this would go down in the USA, as should a law like this be passed here in South Africa, I will be the first one to appeal it on various legal grounds in the constitutional court. Also, what is the opinion of the list on the effect that such a law would have on the current I.T industry and the like? Any comments would be appreciated Andrew Alston
