A new version of the stunnel package is available in the Cygwin distribution. This is a minor bug fix release from upstream.
stunnel is a program that allows you to encrypt arbitrary TCP connections inside SSL (Secure Sockets Layer). stunnel can allow you to secure non-SSL aware daemons and protocols (like POP, IMAP, LDAP, etc) by having stunnel provide the encryption, requiring no changes to the daemon's code. Please note that, although libstunnel (i.e. cygstunnel.dll) is included in this package, its use is undocumented AFAICT and so I haven't tried to test it. I guess that its purpose is to provide transparent proxy support via stunnel by something like LD_PRELOAD=libstunnel.dll, but I don't really know how or if it works. Test reports are welcome on the cygwin list, but questions and discussion might better be directed to the stunnel-users list. Andrew E.
