But there is a real scarcity of knowledgeable people there. There is the occasional request for help with openssh problems that almost always boil down to reading the documentation and there are the usual questions like "I'm trying to build SmerglX and it doesn't work" (often followed two minutes later by the questioner leaving the channel). Otherwise, you are apt to see clueless questions and, in the rare cases where someone responds, unfortunately, clueless responses. So I wouldn't expect that you'd get good advice there.
