Yes, this is what you need to do under BASH. I thought I had verified it there, but I guess I wasn't getting what I thought I was getting. (I mostly use ZSH--at least I knew better than to write "print -n $'\ec'".) In fact, under a Command window it looks like this may end up working the same as the "clear" command (for me it does at least clear the scroll contents). But if you use RXVT (as I do), sending <ESC>-c does a much better job than clear. At least I did say YMMV. :-) gsw P.S.
