Okay, I searched & found nothing about this: somehow, on my installation, C-x C-c doesn't quit-emacs-permanently; C-x functions alright, but C-c is being caught and returning a beep instead of actually executing quit-emacs-permanently. Does this have anything to do with having to install leim? (I saw that post, and had already started downloading it for updated installation.)
