Dear all,

a couple of months ago there was a change in the Cygwin mailing list Digest:
There is no longer an overview in the mail text, sorted by thread, that
referenced the mails by number. This is in my opinion a backstep in viewing the
digest at least for use with MS Outlook:

1) With the overview index in the mail text it was possible to very quickly see
posts of interest.
2) The numbered mail was not difficult to find since many mails where visible
at one glance compared to the much fewer number now due to the longer message
names (though it looks like there are now generally fewer posts in the digests
- are they sent more frequently?).
3) With the new format it is not possible to quickly see through the list - no
overview list in the mail, no thread grouping.
4) "Today's Topic" cannot be opened / shown directly in MS Outlook (2010). So
it must be opened with double click, selection of a program to be loaded with,
security questions.
5) "Today's Topic" lists all mails in order, no grouping by thread.
6) "Today's Topic" lists only short lines with line breaks for longer topics
which makes it even more difficult to read.

I was subscribed to the list in order to keep in touch with announcements and
developments and to see what troubles and solutions are out there. But since
the new formatting has been out I did no longer look through the digest,
because it is too confusing and time consuming.

Why was this change made?

Am I the only one with that problem?

Kind regards,
Wolfgang
