strace gives an error:
$ strace -o ls.trace /proc/registry/HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft
strace: error creating process
C:\cygwin\proc\registry\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft, (error 3)
Here's the result of cygcheck strace
