The following experiment appears to confirm that setup.exe has nothing to do with GetModuleHandleExA : $ strings ~/Cygwin/setup/setup.exe | grep GetModule GetModuleFileNameW GetModuleHandleA This is a setup.exe built from the CVS sources.
