I am currently researching how to build the LAMP stack on Cygwin with the Gentoo build tools. However, as PHP depends on nearly everything, I can't predict how far this will be possible. If it works, you can compile the whole LAMP stack on Cygwin, Mac and Linux from the very same sources. The goal is to avoid version and other differences as far as possible.
