It crashes even if the file does not actually exist. You could try losing -pipe. Perhaps tweaking the configuration of cpan would help. How odd. It seems to crash only with that exact number of parameters. Try convincing the makefile generator to add another option (e.g. -pedantic or -W) -- Life is complex, with real and imaginary parts.
