Hi, About once a year I want to reinstall a new version of cygwin. What I did in the past is download setup.exe/setup.ini and the release/ directory from a mirror, and install all but the src packages and setup.* on a CDROM.
From what I read in the mailing list, this can be a problem if the release dir. is located immediately at the root of the CD, and so I created a directory cygwin, below which release was stored. However, when I try to install cygwin using setup, telling it to install from a local directory, in my case e:\cygwin\release, the setup window shows all packages in the misc set, which is clearly not as it should be. I'm sure I'm overseeing something here, but as I'm overseeing it, I can't figure out what's going wrong. Can anybody help me out? Additional info: what I need to have is a possibility to install cygwin on a computer which is either not connected to the internet or connected via a slow link. The CDROM helps me to download the information via a fast-link, burn a CD, and then proceed with the installation from the CD. However, although this worked well last year, this year I can't seem to get it right. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any assistence I receive, -- Frank B.
