The mvn script also sources /etc/mavenrc and ~/.mavenrc files if they exist, so it's possible that what you're seeing is the result of something running in one of them. I noticed that the path in the warning message references the boot subdirectory of the Maven installation, however, so I suspect that the problem is actually occurring either during or after the hand-off to Java to actually run the Java class used to instantiate Maven.
