Hi folks,
I maintain a few apps from invisible-island.net (Thomas Dickey) as do others,
and as they now offer a mirror as well as primary archive site, it would be
easier if we could default package downloads to the mirror and fall back to
the primary site.
The attached patch documents and implements invisible-island mirrors as ii
although say invisible could be used instead if something longer was preferred.
'ii' and 'invisible' don't mean that much to me, so I chose 'invisibleisland'
I apologize for making you do more typing! :)
Applied. Thanks!
Thanks Jon,
Cheers!
Better than my other thought - Dickey - which would not be obvious.
Very happy to have a mirror definition to skip defining alternatives where
upstreams are available in the first few hours after release notices appear.
Like Cygwin mirrors, all upstreams seem to have variable propagation delay for
alternate sites, with some so delayed they seem manually synced.
It seems incredible how often upstream sources are not available at one site or
the other, even GNU, and the SRC_URI has to be flipped for the latest release.
