Nope, that's not it, the library or object files just don't contain any
debuginfo. And running the compile in verbose mode that indeed '-g0'
ist set, so please fix that by configuring with '--enable-debug'.

That did it - I will remember for other packages.
I rebuilt a local test release 2 - do you think it is worth releasing as test or
stable for those who want the debuginfo?
I needed this version at least for another package and it built without other
issues, although I will be trying to get it up to date.
