Steffen,
are you still with us? A mail on the Cygwin ML(*) indicated that the
latest Cygwin emacs release 22.1 is still in test. The last message
from you is from July 2007, so I'm a bit concerned that you just
dropped off from Cygwin again. Do you further maintain Cygwin emacs?
If so, can we take 22.1 out of test or are you going to prepare a
new release?
Thanks,
Corinna
Steffen can speak more definitively about this, but back in July there
were run-time problems
with the Cygwin version of Emacs 22.1. The apparent cause of the
problem(s) was that
Emacs was being built with gcc 3 instead of gcc 4, which is not
available for Cygwin. My
understanding of the hoped-for path to resolving this is:
Resolve problems that are preventing a Cygwin gcc 4 ->
Compile Emacs 22.1 with gcc 4 ->
Test to determine whether the run-time problems have been
resolved.
