I am confused over Rick's mail.
This is what I have done...
1) tar the cvs_root on the unix server
2) Copy the tar on to the windows cvs server
3) extract the tar
You probably used WinZip, which has a habit of 'fixing' line endings.
Use a real tar program, or tell WinZip to leave the line endings alone.
