Thanks for pointing out the LlvmBackend page, I had totally missed it. It looks 
like the page contained info about the design of the backend, but had not been 
updated in a while. I merged what I thought was the relevant info and updated 
it based what I understood from David's thesis and by browsing the code. I'm 
sure David could improve the description and check for any glaring omissions.

I "deprecated" the LlvmBackend page in favor of Commentary/Backends/LLVM by 
putting a forwarding reference to the latter. Otherwise I left the current 
LlvmBackend page intact, but can remove it once David agrees the important info 
has been transferred.
