Hi John,
IMO it should be working in every element, not only in a div. Maybe the 
calling of the ID or img in the css is not 100%? - But from a distance 
it is difficult to say why it is not working in your page: we don't have 
the html + css of it. Can you upload the not working page as a testpage 
somewhere, an give us the link?
