I think this really is a killer feature we lose.

Please open a bug, but we could totally add such a menu that opens
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/enter_bug.cgi in an external browser.
• Will do.

Also the extension points for this menu are used by products based on Eclipse.
When Mylyn now is no longer pre-packaged with the EPPs it’s really a hassle for
Eclipse based products to have a dependency to Mylyn.

Products that use the extension points do declare a requirement on Mylyn
bundles or packages, Mylyn is already part of the product target-platform at
build-time, and installing the product will transitively install Mylyn from the
product repo, or from SimRel. I don't think it makes a big difference.

• This is true when you ship a installable binary. But if you just provide your
plugins and “users” of these have to install the dependencies this makes a
difference. For our product “ABAP Development Tools” SAP has customers where
the computers where your Tools are installed don’t have access to the internet
(because it’s military industry for example). All these customers would have to
adapt their installation procedures.
I also not a big fan of that scenario but that’s real life. Sorry. So if the
decision of removing Mylyn from the EPPs (an maybe from SimRel in the future)
will most probably mean that we will remove our usages of Mylyn… An one of
these usages is the “report bug or enhancement” menu entry.
