Dear All,

I recently was pointed to the ancient Indian epistemology "*Nyaya Sutra*". Going back to roots may be from the 6th century BC, it was brought into a widely accepted coherent textual form by the "Vatsyayana Commentary", which became highly influential in Indian philosophy later.

The parts about the ways to acquire knowledge make some major distinctions surprising close to CRMinf, as well as the attitude towards reality, albeit much more comprehensive in purpose.

In a recent commentary and translation, the distinction of "authoritative testimony" as a valid knowledge source distinct from inference, (similar to "Belief Adoption in CRMinf) is described as not being represented in European Philosophy up to very recently.
