At the risk of being controversial, I don't think this is helpful.

Firstly, 'signing in' requires that I authorise an app to follow new people, 
post for me, and update my profile. I see no reason to let it do that. (I now 
see that you can also do this by tweeting @lanyrd attending #lgm which is much 
better).

Secondly, why would I want to come to LGM? There are only three people 
attending.
