Heya Louis, here is a quick paragraph that Dave Crossland and I constructed to briefly represent what happened at LGM 2007 for Open Clip Art Library and Open Font Library...there are a ton of blog posts that get into more details. Those should be copied IMO.
Cheers again! ### Open Clip Art Library and Open Font Library Post-LGM 2007 Report The Open Clip Art Library is a large library of clip art placed in the public domain through Creative Commons licensing. The Open Font Library is a new repository for fonts available under the SIL Open Font License, a free software license written specifically for fonts. This year the LGM brought together several key developers to discuss plans for the next year. Through some interesting circumstances, Keith Packard and Jon Phillips made plans for Open Clip Art Library and Open Font Library to have a dedicated server infrastructure to meet the growing demand. Jon Phillips presented on the overall plan for both Open Font Library and Open Clip Art Library, while trying to open up discussion about how others can get involved in the future. The Open Font Library community ran an informal "Birds of a Feather" session, three times larger than the one last year, and presented the significant events in the free software font community since last year: An improved version of the SIL Open Font License was released, and integrated into both the free software font editor, FontForge, and the Open Font Library itself. Finally, the LGM was chosen by Raph Levien as the most suitable conference to publicly demonstrate for the first time his innovative new font curve technology, Spiro. ### Jon -- Jon Phillips San Francisco, CA USA PH 510.499.0894 [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.rejon.org MSN, AIM, Yahoo Chat: kidproto Jabber Chat: [EMAIL PROTECTED] IRC: [EMAIL PROTECTED] _______________________________________________ CREATE mailing list [email protected] http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/create
