Letting them go out of business, if they can't help themselves, *is* the
free market solution. It might be a bad idea but there it is.

Jim, I hate to break this to you, but Tim is an anarchist. Or, at any
rate, the persona he adopts when posting here is that of an anarchist.

Why are you asking an anarchist for a master plan?  Part of the point of
anarchism is that there is no master plan, that people should get on
with their own lives, and  solve their own problems, and not be expected
to follow some other guy's plan.

An anarchist doesn't want to be "the one in charge", if only because
they don't want anyone else to be in charge of them and Mrs.
Doasyouwouldbedoneby applies. An anarchist doesn't see the need for
there to be "one to 'make it happen'".  People can make their own
happens, they don't need one leader to do it for them. An anarchist
might not want to "'do the right thing' for all concerned". An anarchist
might want to get out of their way so they can do the right thing for
themselves. And if it turns out not to be the right thing, well, life's
tough.
