[Courier-imap] Setting :list labels from the command line.

Is there a way to set labels, stored in the <maildir>/courierimapkeywords/:list file, from the command line?

I know that it's possible to mark messages as read / unread / replied from by renaming the files. But I don't know how to safely alter labels from the command line.
