If you are using courier-imap's default scripts, you do not need to worry about what imaplogin does, or what its two arguments do. imaplogin handles the initial part of the IMAP connection, receiving the login ID and password. The first argument is the path to the imapd binary, that gets executed after receiving a valid id+password, the second argument is the configured default maildir location.
