My PC is a Shuttle SS51G (SIS651 chipset) with a radeon 8500 card (actually an hercules fdx 8500 LE flashed to radeon 8500 "build by ati"). Just after installing ati.2, I opened XFdrake verified options and selected "test" ==> at this point the screen went black and the machine froze (no keyboard & magic keys) Below the relevant messaged in syslog : mar 8 20:34:31 shuttle XFdrake[3102]: renamed file //etc/X11/XF86Config.test to //etc/X11/XF86Config.test.old mar 8 20:34:31 shuttle XFdrake[3102]: launched command: xauth add :9 . `mcookie` mar 8 20:34:32 shuttle XFdrake[3102]: launched command: DISPLAY=:9 /usr/X11R6/bin/xtest Mar 8 20:34:34 shuttle kernel: mtrr: no more MTRRs available Mar 8 20:48:43 shuttle syslogd 1.4.1: restart. After a reboot in init3, a launched a startx. Kde did start (I heard the sound ...) but the screen was all garbled and the mouse was displayed as a big garbled square. I killed x and relaunched it and then it froze again. If you need more debugging information, just provide me with some directions. Regards & thanks for all that is already available !
