I traced the cause to the file associations for inode/directory which had two entries named Konqueror (kfmclient.desktop and kfmclient_dir.desktop). Deleting the first solved the problem for me. This was present as of kdebase-3.1-72mdk.src.rpm (rebuilt for 9.0 system). Also Supermount not working however issuing "supermount -i enable" fixes problem of supermount on reboot. Error message continues but CD may be accessed via /mnt/cdrom in shell or normal window.
