           Product: Installation
         Component: Installation
Summary: Can't install with large FAT32 partition present
           Version: 1.804
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
        AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
        ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Started normal install from CD-ROM.
Choose install, not updgrade.
Choose "Use existing partitions"
It gave my a list of mount points:
   /boot on hda1 78MB ext2
   / on hde1 35GB ResiserFS

Then comes up and asks if I want to format the following:
   hda1
x hde1 35GB ReiserFS
x hdg1 74GB /mnt/win_c3 FAT32
(The 'x' means it was selected by default)

I don't know why it included my fat32 partition by default. This was scary to
say the least.

If I uncheck the FAT32 partition and attempt to proceed, it throws an error
about can't mount /win_c3, and returns me to the choose "Existing
paritions ..." screen. Can't get out of this unless I pick "Advanced", set a
mount point for of "" (no string) for hde1. It does not provide a button to
umount. I have to just overwrite the name of the mount point for this
partition with an empty string, then it works and installation can proceed.

Note, if I let it format my FAT32 partition to EXT2 on the first time through,
then it all works ok. I think this is related to the Kernel limitation around
very large FAT32 disks. Perhaps the install could just ignore large
partitions that are not supported by the kernel instead of trying to format
then. Certainly the user should not be put in an "error screen" loop.
