First, let me tell you that this seems to be an intermitent bug.

As far as I remember I simply specified a dhcp server, a DNS server, a gateway
and that's it. Bring down eth0, bring it up again... nothing.
ifconfig etho down
ifconfig eth0 up
does nothing
and ifup eth0 always fails.

About Gnome, I added the name of my computer (something.domain) to /etc/hosts.
It also didn't worked.

Rebooting (that is, next day) solved both problems (ie, they magically dissapeared).

I thought I was over them, but today I was unnable to get to the net. Again,
rebooting to win2k proved that the ISP is working. (gnome is working though)

mhh. I have enable the roaming option for the card (or wahtever the name is for
tracking the eth0 card)

If you need anything else, please contact me.

description:
I've been having problems trying to connect to the internet after installing MDK
9.1 Beta 3.
Drakconnect does nothing to solve the problem, even though I'm following the
same steps I took to configure MDK 9.0.

I'm also unsucessfull Trying to setup the network by hand. Setting the dchp
server, DNS, and gateways, and restarting the network has no effect.
The netwokr card is correctly reconzide (realtek 8139).

There is also a problem with gnome that might be related:
Gnome is never able to reconzie the localhost, even after correctly seting up an
entry in /etc/hosts and restarting the network.
