------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-02-08 16:47 ------- it's the number of themes. I completely forget where I saw the comments (sorry) -- but someone was saying if there are more than 30 themes in the /usr/share/themes folder then fam craps out when trying to launch the gnome-theme-manager. Armed with this information I deleted the themes I thought weren't necessary (ie, pretty much all the gtk-1 themes) from the themes folder and then re-installed gnome-themes. I now have approx. 10-15 themes in there and with fam running the gnome-theme-manager works without a hitch. So it appears to be a number of themes thing. Over at gnomedesktop.org there's a comment in the dropline gnome summary on the front page about a fam fix or something (for dropline). I didn't have time to check out the link, but I've used mandrake a lot and have never really given back -- sorry for my slefishness .... Hope this info helps. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. ------- Reminder: ------- assigned_to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] status: NEW creation_date: description: Even after confirming portmap/xinetd aren't blocked, it's still a no-go for g-t-m. I suspect this has something to do with fam, since if I stopped xinetd (thus stopping fam), g-t-m starts perfectly (with tons of FAMOpen error mesg). strace log is attached. It just hangs there when doing the last write(), until I interrupt it with Ctrl-C. Sounds like it was trying to write to a non-operational socket. At this point, the connection to fam/portmap was already terminated (according to the output of netstat).
