Thanks for responding, Al, but I don't think it's anything to do with
2.2.17. I only use that kernel when I want to use Win4Lin, otherwise
2.4.2-18mdk. I upgraded XFree to 4.0.3-1.1mdk from "unsupported" together
with KDE-2.1.1 and I suspected XFree as the culprit, except that kdm and
xdm don't work with 3.3.6 either.
I haven't seen this "x respawning too fast..." for ages. Does anyone
remember what causes it?
