The postuninstall scriptlet of the i686-up-4GB is obviously wrong:
installkernel -a -s -c 2.4.22-10mdk-i686-up-4GB
It should be something like in the default kernel:
kernel_remove_initrd 2.4.22-10mdk-i686-up-4GB
