Alsa always requires a specific kernel version, which is currently outdated:
# rpm -U alsa-0.5.7-15mdk.i586.rpm
error: failed dependencies:
kernel = 2.2.15-15mdk is needed by alsa-0.5.7-15mdk
# uname -r
2.2.16-3mdk
