Either use xmms-arts (but it's not very stable), disable KDE sound server, or
use another multimedia application (the KDE one would be a good choice probably).

If an event from konqueror used the sound device (error message, ...), it's not
possible to use
xmms (couldn't open audio). artsd use the device and so xmms can't use it.
