Re: linux-mandrake Hydrogen (20000511)
With a new SB Live! PCI sound card followed by a virgin install of
the above beta, I cannot play my Midi songs because it cannot open
/dev/sequencer, suggesting it is already in use by another user.
That isn't true.
Logged on as ron, ls -l /dev/sequencer shows:
crw------ 1 ron audio 14, 1 May 4 11:40 /dev/sequencer
HardDrake shows I/O, IRQ, DMA8, DMA16/2, MPU401 I/O all set to -1
with the dropdown lists showing no alternatives.
lsmod shows:
Module Size Used by
sound 64408 0 (unused)
soundlow 420 0 [sound]
usb-uhci 26660 0 (unused)
usbcore 27236 0 [usb-uhci]
autofs 9604 1 (autoclean)
irda 84289 1
tulip 30624 1 (autoclean)
ne2k-pci 4460 1 (autoclean)

emu10k1 50948 1

nls_cp437 3784 6 (autoclean)
vfat 11164 6 (autoclean)
fat 32864 6 (autoclean) [vfat]
How do I get the sequencer available?
With root as the sole user, ls -l /dev/sequencer changes to:
crw-r---- 1 root sys 14, 1 May 4 11:40 /dev/sequencer
but Midi Player still cannot open /dev/sequencer ("perhaps another
user has it").
