  Sure "tue" is different from "tu�" but "e" and "�" are the same letter and
have the same exact rank. Check into a French dictionnary. For instance in
the one I have there, I can see in the first pages:
"abb�" listed before "abbesse".

  An accent makes sense but doesn't change the alphabetic rank of a letter
e, �, �, � and � all are ranked at the fifth position.
