I took a look at hplip-3.20.6.run. It's one of these self-extractors made using Makeself: a shell script followed by a tarfile (in binary form). It looks like the shell script just runs hplip-install after extracting the tarfile. As a starting point, I would run hplip-3.20.6.run, let it unpack the tarfile, overwrite the config.guess and .sub it created in the target directory it creates, and then run hplip-install by hand. You might also like to report this problem to the hplip maintianers so that they may update the versions of config.guess/sub they ship. Cheers, Ben
