If this is a Blue screen error then most likely a recent change you 
performed is causing this, have you tried Safe Mode or Last Known Good 
Configuration boot options?

Have you installed any new add-in cards lately, or any memory?

You can always pop in the Operating system CD/DVD and reinstall as well.

FYI, reinstalling without formatting will allow you access to your old 
downloads/documents/pictures.
