The method is indeed there. Have a look for yourself:

Please note that it is a method of HttpMethodBase class, not of HttpMethod
interface. I suppose you cast your method object to HttpMethod interface and
then attempt to set the retry handler. That "does not compute", of course

I think it is quite likely that under certain circumstances (such as heavy load)
MSNBC simply drops connections as it sees fit. By the way, dropping connections
at any time and without prior notice is absolutely fine from the HTTP spec
standpoint.
