[~tomzeng] -are you using a later/private ZK build? Maybe that's the problem:
hadoop has been picking up netty from there, and if it changes its
dependencies, then things stop.
If so, we should fix hadoop-hdfs and hadoop-nfs, not -common, because anything
in common ends up the classpath of everything downstream, client- or server-side
